A Prayer for Twenty-twenty

(Written for the 1st January 2020)

I pray that each and every one of us prioritise health this year. our health as individuals and our health as a collective; our health as human beings as well as our health as part of God’s creative whole.

I pray that in 2020 we recognise all beings that brim with life – human and nonhuman – to be our neighbour; I pray that in 2020 we strive to show love and compassion to all beings in the same manner that we do (or at least should) show ourselves.

I pray that in 2020 we are able to let go of our attachments, addictions and our privileges for the genuine love of god, a love for the greater good, a good beyond ourselves; a love that suffers and strives for the future welfare and enjoyment of our children, the next generation.

I pray we’re blessed with 20/20 vision so we can see with clarity that only God can save us.
